Starting in Calgary, Alberta…

Origin at Spring Creek is only an hour and 20-minute drive from the Calgary International Airport (YYC), making it the ideal destination retirement community. Visiting your loved ones at Origin is an adventure in itself. Making the short trip to Spring Creek is a relaxing drive with pristine views and fresh mountain air so you can feel revived getting out of the city for the day.

If you don’t have a car there are many transportation options available to get you to Canmore. Shuttles and buses depart the Calgary airport multiple times a day heading for Canmore. Ride-sharing options are available as it’s such a popular destination for Calgarians.

Calgary is Alberta’s largest city center, with a population of over 1.3 million and spanning over 825 square kilometers. Most people know it as the home of the annual Calgary Stampede, where people gather to watch the worlds greatest outdoor show. Calgary is also well known for being the gateway to the Rocky Mountains.

Say goodbye to the beautiful city’s skyline as you head west on the Trans Canada Highway. As you’re leaving Calgary, make sure to look on your left for a view of Canada Olympic Park, where the Olympics were hosted in 1988.

Driving along the Trans Canada Highway...

Once you’re out of the city limits you’ll get to experience some of the greatest views on the Trans Canada Highway.

Jumpingpound Mountain (elevation 2,225 m (7,300 ft)) is a mountain located 24 km (15 mi) west of Bragg Creek, Alberta in Kananaskis Country. It was named after Jumpingpound Creek in 1949 because a steep bank near the mouth was used as a buffalo jump by the Blackfoot First Nations.

Cruise over the rolling hills and grassy plains as the mountains in the distance come into focus. Fields will become forests as the landscape transitions closer to the mountains. The front range of the Canadian Rockies will begin to take shape before your eyes, and you’ll feel a sense of belonging among the towering peaks.

As you pass through Kananaskis country you might be lucky enough to spot some wildlife as you enter the Bow Valley. The Bow Valley is a wildlife corridor that is home to many of Canada’s favourite species including Moose, Elk, Deer, Bears, Cougars, and so many more majestic creatures. You’ll catch a glimpse of the Bow River as it winds and twists through the terrain along your route and you’ll drive across it just before taking Exit 91 into Canmore.

Kananaskis Country is noted for recreation and tourism. Recreation facilities in Kananaskis include several campgrounds, a golf course, a hotel, a holiday ranch, two alpine ski areas (Nakiska, which hosted alpine skiing and freestyle moguls skiing during the 1988 Winter Olympics and Fortress Mountain Resort and a competitive cross-country ski area, the Canmore Nordic Centre) that the public can use.

Canmore’s Best Retirement Community

Origin at Spring Creek is Bow Valley’s leading independent living, assisted living, and memory care community. Our community is nestled in the luxurious mountain town of Canmore, Alberta, and just a 5-minute walk to downtown, shopping, and restaurants.

Origin’s only business is caring for seniors. We design, develop, and operate innovative, industry-leading, active lifestyle communities across Canada.

Founded by People Who Care

Origin Founder, Neil Prashad, was raised by his grandparents who instilled a love and respect for seniors and a passion for caring. Through their encouragement, Neil developed an appreciation for aging adults. Throughout his life, both of Neil’s parents worked in the senior care industry as caregivers. Watching his parents’ triumphs and struggles as team members in this industry drove him to find a better way to care for seniors and the employees at the senior communities.

Origin Active Lifestyle Communities prides itself on caring for its team members and community members above all else.

We believe in…

1). Fun with Friends

Family and friends matter greatly to us and are always welcome in our communities. We include our residents’ families in their lives as much as possible. We regularly host special events and activities to bring families & friends closer to our community members and we offer guest meals, guest suites, and other services to accommodate them.

2). Gourmet Dining

Origin spends more to purchase the industry’s highest quality raw food products. With better ingredients, we develop menu items that are both healthy and tasty. Our goal is to consistently provide families and their guests with meals that are created primarily by using scratch cooking methods. Our chefs are passionate about creating dining experiences and special events such as brunches and themed dinners.

3). Comfortable, Supportive Living

All suites at our communities are designed to maximize the comfort and safety of our residents. We are passionately committed to research and development in the discipline of aging and environmental design. The results are evident in suites and unique common amenity areas which support and enhance an aging lifestyle.

4). A Healthy and Active Lifestyle

Full social calendar and engaging activities are at the heart of each Origin community. Our professionally-trained full-time recreation staff is dedicated to ensuring maximum participation in daily events and fitness programs at all Origin Communities. At Origin, we do not take a cookie-cutter approach to decide what residents would like to do and we’re sure to ask them on a regular basis for input into the programs and classes we offer.

5). Dedicated Staff

Origin is unique in the retirement housing industry. We are a collection of dedicated and passionate professionals bound by our collective vision and determination to make a difference. We call this bond ‘The Origin DNA’ and it explains a passion for caring that drives all that we do. From housekeeping to reception to servers in our dining room, we all touch the lives of our residents every day.

6). Nurturing Mind, Body, and Spirit

Origin’s ‘wholistic’ approach ensures that every resident is treated as a whole person. We nurture the spirit and physical with our unique activities, programs, and dining services. Our commitment to natural and environmentally responsible methods is evident in the Evergreen Spa™.
